Health as an Economic Engine

The mission of Healthy Delta is to improve the health of the individuals who make up the region’s workforce. It is the belief of the DRA leadership, that to build a healthy economy, one must first start with a healthy workforce, not vice versa.

To accomplish its mission of health as an economic engine, the DRA has set several goals for the Healthy Delta initiative:

Improve health in general
Improve diabetes in particular
Position DRA as the catalyst to move citizens into the health care system
Provide an access point for entry
Track results

To state it simply, Healthy Delta is designed to help people in the Delta with diabetes deal with the disease, and has provided a toll-free number for them to call if they have questions, need help with Medicaid or want to find a doctor in their area.

We believe that a concentrated, organized effort to raise awareness about diabetes and give people a way to take charge of their health will create a greater quality-of-life for families living in the Delta. We also believe that the Healthy Delta initiative can have a positive, lasting effect on the region’s economy for years to come.
